We are currently looking for two interns for the 2017 growing season. We have one full-time position and one part-time intern position open for this upcoming season. The full time position will be 40 hours a week with a monthly stipend. The part time position is 20 hours a week, with no pay. Interns will be provided housing, and pork, chicken and eggs. There is also the possibility of paid part time work on a neighboring organic vegetable farm in the valley.
Potential interns must be bright, creative, curious, good with your hands, solid, quick, enjoy work and have good communication skills and have good physical health. No prior farming experience is necessary, although it will be considered during the application process.
You will work closely with the two female farmer/owners in the field. The work will include the following; animal chores, pasture rotation, animal husbandry, market helper, helping with the flower production: transplanting, weeding and harvesting flowers and help with design. Our interns will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of running a pastured poultry and pork operation, interspecies rotational grazing, lamb and pork butchery, flower farming and floral design. Independence Valley is a magical place to spend a growing season.
