Pasture Raised Chicken

Find us at the Olympia Farmers Market on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00am until 3:00pm.  We have a full selections of pastured chicken products including whole chickens, boneless breasts, legs, wings, hearts and livers, bone broth packages, and chicken feet.

At August Farm our chickens are truly raised humanely and the result is the most delicious chicken you've ever tasted.

We raise slow-growing broiler chickens. Their breeding stock is imported from France.  This genetic stock comes from the heritage breed of chicken that was developed to meet the highest standards of the French Label Rouge free-range program.

Our chickens are grown to an age between ten and twelve weeks. The more natural growing period results in superior, old-fashion tasting chicken with a deep, rich flavor our grandparents would recognize.  Because our chickens grow slower they do not suffer from the numerous health problems that Cornish Cross chickens experience.  Cornish Cross are bred to reach market weight in just 6 weeks.

Our chickens are hand-raised in small flocks outside in floorless mobile chicken coops surrounded by electric fencing, so they can free range and are protected from predators. Their coops are moved daily to ensure they always have access to fresh, clean pasture. They forage on green grass, dandelions, clover and bugs in the sunshine.  Our chickens are fed only certified organic, feed.  Which guarantees that the grains are non-GMO and are raised without pesticides, herbicides or synthetic fertilizers. Our chickens receive no hormones or antibiotics. Our chickens are brooded, pastured and processed on the farm.  We use low stress and humane slaughtering methods.
